Heritage Conservation Appeals

Details of individual appeals:

St. Joseph’s Church Restoration & Conservation Fund

Photo: Claire Baker Dept. of the Environment, Water, Heritage & the Arts

Aims: Restoration of the “Life of St. Joseph” stained glass Windows
Address: 65 Harrington Street, Hobart
Heritage Significance:
Fine Gothic church in central city location, this is a restrained religious building without much of the flamboyant detail of Gothic design. The tower is a focal element whose ridge-top aids its visual dominance. This is the oldest surviving Catholic church in Hobart and is a building which adds considerably to the streetscape and is part of an historic precinct.
